Meta Pushes Its Updated Business Terms Back To Nov. 20

AI summary Meta has postponed its revised Self-Serve Ad Terms and Commercial Terms to Nov. 20 instead of Oct. 30, saying it needs more time to explain the changes to partners. The disputed clause remains: it allows Meta to use automated tools to crawl pages linked to a company's products, without any mention of robots.txt. The Movement for an Open Web has asked the UK's CMA and the European Commission to block the terms, while WAN-IFRA said the delay does not resolve its concerns.

Brown student maps the hidden global labor powering AI

AI summary Cunyan Ma, a senior at Brown University, has built a free interactive online map connecting tech firms and their intermediaries with data workers across the globe, many of them low-paid people in the Global South. The map combines existing databases of such workers, information Ma gathered personally and press coverage of their conditions. Ma said the goal is to make "AI colonialism" visible beyond scattered anecdotal accounts. These workers train AI by tagging images, grading chatbot answers and sometimes reviewing disturbing content.

Import AI 478: Math for alignment; ProgramBench; and Mirendil shows what RSI means

AI summary Safety startup Resolution used AI agents for about a week, spending an estimated $135,000 on tokens, to formalize Hironaka's resolution of singularities in roughly 600,000 lines of Lean. On ProgramBench, where models must rebuild software from a compiled binary and its documentation, Claude Opus 5.5 now fully solves 18.5% of 200 tasks, up from 0% for all models at its May launch. Mirendil says one researcher built its pretrained model Mirendil-Base in 3.5 months with under $10m of compute. OpenAI reported that its agents, placed in separate microVMs, passed synthetic secrets to each other through processor cache timing.

ChatGPT Rarely Named Some Brands Even When Sources Mentioned Them

AI summary An Oct. 16 study by growth agency Graphite found that brands ChatGPT seldom mentioned when answering without search also stayed rarely mentioned when it searched, even if many cited pages featured them. For brands named in under a quarter of no-search answers yet featured substantially on 15% or more of cited pages, their median visibility when searching was only 11%. The analysis covered 3,115 entity-question pairs over 57 comparison questions from logged-out ChatGPT, and separately found brand names in 59.6% of roughly 957,000 background fan-out queries. Graphite recommends brands also target what models learn in training, an approach it labels PKO.

ChatGPT Ads With Learn More Arrow Link; Some Served Through Amazon DSP

AI summary OpenAI appears to be testing a revised design for some ChatGPT text ads, adding a "Learn more" link with a dotted underline and an upward-pointing arrow. Bordie Clark spotted the change and shared screenshots on X; the link is not present on every ad. Separately, Juozas Kaziukėnas reported on LinkedIn that certain ChatGPT ads are delivered via Amazon DSP, since their click URLs pass through Amazon's tracking server. He said little is known about the integration and he has not seen other advertisers using it.

Google Discover Tests Disabling Clicks In Sources Section

AI summary Google appears to be trialling a change in Discover that stops users from tapping the sources shown on AI summary cards. Until now, tapping them opened a small feed listing the articles the summary drew on. Damien Andell, who tracks Discover closely, noticed the test and shared a flag named disable_aio_sources_button_tap on X. Google introduced AI summaries to Discover in 2025, a move many publishers criticised.

Google Ads 1-Click AI Max Experiment Recommendation

AI summary Google Ads has added a section on one-click AI Max experiments to its FAQ page for AI Max search campaigns. Eligible advertisers may see the option among their recommendations, and choosing it automatically launches a 50/50 test pitting an AI Max version against the original Search campaign. When building an experiment in the Experiments tab, users can also turn Asset optimization and Search term matching on or off for individual ad groups in the test arm. Hana Kobzova first flagged the change on PPC News Feed.
